Our Story

The secret to commercial success: find a need and fill it! That, in short, is the story of Fourways Airconditioning. Anja Wapenaar, Bets Wapenaar, Graziano Wolfaardt and Richard Perry, now MD of Fourways Airconditioning, saw a gap in the market when it came to fast, on-the-spot service to Aircon installers, along with long-term parts and service back-up.

In 1999 Fourways Aircon was a small outlet in Kya-Sands selling Samsung airconditioners and spare parts to COD customers. As the company grew, we acquired more staff each year. By 2004 the company had grown such a substantial client base that Samsung were able to give their entire client base over to Fourways Aircon. At the same time as the client move, Samsung employees also moved over to Fourways Aircon and because of this, it drastically cut Samsung’s overhead costs. Fourways were thus able to sell airconditioning products on behalf of Samsung at a lower price to the dealers due to higher overhead structures at Samsung.

Fourways’ rapid growth necessitated two moves to larger premises in Johannesburg as well as the acquisition of additional warehouses. In 2009, a second branch was opened in Pretoria to service local demand. Cape Town had already been operating as Samair since 1999 and Durban from 2004. However these branches had always been regarded as part of Fourways Airconditioning, and in 2013/4, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, George and Bloemfontein all officially became part of the national Fourways Airconditioning family.

Thus, just one and a half decades after launch, Fourways Airconditioning has become a fully national brand, with warehousing and technical support in every major metropolitan area. The key to Fourways’ success? Fast, on-the-spot service to aircon installers, plus long-term parts and service back-up.
